We designed and installed a 14-panel solar PV system with a Fox EP11 battery to help the homeowners cut their electricity costs, charge their electric vehicles from clean energy, and lower their long-term reliance on the grid.

Background

The Forest Close homeowners joined the Solar Together scheme, which offered a competitive route to installing a high-quality solar PV system. With two electric vehicles and rising electricity prices, they wanted a setup that supported self-consumption, reduced grid demand, and gave them a more sustainable way to charge their cars. They selected a 14-panel array paired with a Fox EP11 battery to store surplus energy and maximise the value of every unit their system generated.

Addressing the challenges

Although the property had a strong south-facing roof with no shading, the installation required careful planning to work around specific site conditions.

The home included a conservatory, so the team designed a bespoke scaffold arrangement to provide safe access to the roof, protect the structure, and allow the installation to progress smoothly. These considerations made sure the system could be installed safely, without affecting the property or delaying the project.

Results

The installation was completed safely and within the planned schedule. Clear communication throughout the process helped the homeowners feel informed at every stage, from design through to handover.

Now fully operational, the system provides clean, self-generated energy, helping the homeowners manage electricity costs, power their EVs, and reduce their exposure to energy price changes, all while supporting a greener future.

Combined environmental impact per year:

The installation has already delivered strong environmental results, supporting the homeowners’ sustainability goals as well as the UK’s wider push towards net-zero. Installed on 30 April 2025, the system has continued to perform to a high standard.
